A fairly lightweight unit that has a lot of power. You'll get about 45 mins to an hour of use from a single charge. My wife was able to till her three 4ft x 10ft raised vegetable beds that had been idle over the winter in two charges. It has the balance and feel of using a weed wacker. The Lithium battery is small and compact, hence the average run time. This of course makes the unit lighter.Minimal assembly was required, requiring just a couple of minutes of time.
Good for small jobs in moist dirt. Would recommend for good soil in flower beds or small gardens that can be cultivated in 30-45 minutes. Battery last about 600 sq ft. Soil can't be dry or hard. I used for bare spots in lawn for seeding, but dead grass tends to cause soil to pack in blades. Not a problem in soil with no vegatation. Clog is easily removed by hand. Worked OK on lawn, but worst complaint is that charger takes 6 hours to charge lithium. Sucks! I have a Ryobi lithium weed eater that charges in less than 1 hour. Ryobi weed eater great tool. Second B&D battery too expensive and not practical with 6 hour recharge time versus 30-45 minutes to deplete battery. 20V unique size. Would have given 4 star rating if included second battery and recharge was 1 hour. B&D should fix this. Handle extends, but lock is weak. Shaft kept shortening as I used it. B&D should fix this too.
I am using it to remove old, dead grass and then loosen the dirt so that I can plant new grass. This tool does the job quickly and efficiently. Even though the dirt is quite wet, the tiller does not become clogged. It is also well balanced and has an adjustable handle.
I bought this product to cultivate in, around, among, etc., randomly and closely planted garden plants where using a hoe or any other type tool just doesn't work very well. And for that precise type work it really fits the mission.
Just got this so I can't review how it will hold up but it works really well. Goes together in a few minutes and the handle is adjustable for people of different heights.It really works the soil and pulls up the weeds. You still have to pull the larger weeds out by hand but they just come right up because they are so loose.It is the perfect tool for using in gardens and flower beds.

Excellent product. Sturdy, with good grips, strong steel blades. I used this on 2 gardens this year (about 20'X10"). Normally it would take hours of work with a shovel and rake, but withthe Black & Decker it only took about 35 minutes. Small to med. size weeds come right up, and big weeds become so lose you just pull them out. Great time saver!!!My only complaint if I had to make one would be the battery. Last about 25-35 min. continuous use, enough time for most jobs, but being lithium you would think it shouldlast at least an hour. Still gave it 5 stars, great tool to have in your collection.
Ideal for those bald spots when you don't want to tear up good grass. Just the right size and powerful for anyone to use.
This product works as exspected for a battery charged tool. We have large gardens so the unit stops too soon. We should have a gas powered tool for us. This garden tool is best for small areas and minor weed loosening. No complaints as I will be re-gifting it to my son for his in town garden.
I read many of the reviews about this tiller before purchasing...and decided to give it a whirl ha. My need was to till small areas of bared ground caused by some bug or fungus that frequently dines on my St Augustine grass. For that job this is the tool to prepare the ground for resodding. As long as there are no oak or pine tree roots to contend with, it gets the job done. My first day with the tiller I spent a minimum of a half hour tilling bare spots on my 2/3'rds of an acre lot and did not deplete the battery. So far I am pleased with the purchase, that was btw, a great $$$ deal...thanks Amazon.
