Received the vent hood fast, just took a couple of days. Had a set up problem as instructions with the vent hood aren't very clear & there was a minor cosmetic issue, but customer service sent us a new part and the problem was resolved to our satisfaction. We are very happy with this purchase. Looked at other vent hoods elsewhere and the price was over double what we paid this company. Very happy. Thank you!
Looks really cool! Works well, not too loud.Price is good.We install it with my husband (handy man).Read an instruction twice before install. Made in china, so go figure!We really like it!
Stylish and sleek is my first response, the stainless steel matte finish on glass would go nice in any kitchen, the fan works superbly at all three speeds, and though it's not the quietest fan, it certainly isn't the loudest. The four LED lights although not as bright as I expected (not bright enough to cook by) does cast a soft glow in the dark and serves as a decent night light. Because this range vent has an adjustable height setting it can work with most ceiling heights, personally I preferred to install the vent at a height just above the top of my head so it wouldn't interfere with the view of the living room, and this required some modifications (cutting down) of the stainless steel. Overall, at almost half the cost of comparable range vents, I am very pleased with the finish product. Would definitely recommend this vent hood!
The item arrived in timely fashion and so far it works and looks great. There were however two things about it that were quite annoying. 1) The stainless steel has a protective plastic covering on it and when it is peeled off, it leaves sticky adhesive residue on all 4 sides of the hood. It took over an hour of vigorous scrubbing to get it all off. I ended up wetting the surface and using my fingernail under a paper towel to rub it off. Unfortunately, I scrubbed so hard in a couple small areas that my fingernail went through the paper towel and I scratched it. I found this process quite annoying and disappointing. All of my other stainless steel appliances had plastic on them when they arrived and it peeled right off with no residue. 2) The stainless steel on this hood is definitely not resistant to finger prints. In theory, once it is clean, you should not have to touch it much, but it took about 30 minutes of polishing to get it "fingerprint free". I hope that I will not have to do that too often.Overall, this is hood is an excellent value, since similar hoods are much more expensive. It looks great, has lots of good features and the price is right. The LED lights are a great touch- low power consumption, no heat produced from the lamps and they will last forever. Im willing to accept a little aggrivation in return for the money I saved.
As others have mentioned, this hood is a good value -- looks good, not overly cheap in materials or workmanship, etc. I'm glad I bought it, especially at an under-$500 price.The negative is mainly the installation instructions, which are hilariously incomplete in hindsight. Also... a bit dangerous. This is a pretty heavy piece of equipment, and the instructions (in Chinglish) tell you to use drywall anchors to mount the top plate against the ceiling! In other words, don't bother looking for a ceiling joist or putting in any custom framing, just drive these expanding anchors into the ceiling and screw them in! Absolutely dangerous -- there is no way those anchors would hold this thing securely: it takes two guys to lift the unit up while a 3rd puts in the screws. Drywall anchors would pull out in less than 2 seconds.I added framing above the ceiling level, and big wood screws through the top plate, and it's pretty secure.Another caveat: the instructions specify that you should drop the upper cover inside the inner cover (like a telescope), and then mount the unit to the ceiling plate. If you do that, you're screwed -- because there is no way to reach inside the top of the assembly and pull the inner cover up when you're done, which is what you need to do in order to screw it in. Fortunately, I experimented on the ground first and realized that, and added some baling wire pulls to the process so that I could get the inner cover up during installation.Since others are succeeding to install the thing, I have to assume that pretty much anybody who takes this on is at least an experienced handyman. Don't do it if you're not going to find solid support for the unit, or aren't comfortable with techniques to shim everything level, etc. If you're a good DIY-er, this is a decent unit and a solid value. Just burn the instructions when you get it.
