The Danze D481170 13-Inch Curved Adjustable Shower Arm does the job. Despite poor previous experience with adjustable arms, I decided to give this product a try. Prior adjustable shower arms from Home Depot or Lowe's were flimsy, restricted flow, or leaked. I have a very heavy Grohe shower head but Grohe arms are very pricey compared to the Danze. This product looks good, matches the chrome of the original arm and shower head nicely, and appears substantial. The Danze installed easily and locks solidly into the chosen position. After 2 months and a couple of adjustments for user height, there are no leaks and no slippage of position. The Danze arm has allowed the shower head to to be raised a few inches, extend to the middle of the shower, and to rain straight down. This reduces splatter around the shower and provides a better shower experience. Another unexpected benefit in suspending this shower head vertically is that it ceases dripping almost immediately after water shut off. Previously, perhaps because the large shower head was mounted on a fixed arm at a diagonal angle, water in the head dripped for up to two minutes after shut off.
I have a very large shower (7' by 4') and the shower head was too low for my 6'4" boyfriend to fit under comfortably. We ordered the curved adjustable shower arm and it is PERFECT! The 13 inches is the perfect amount of space up and out from the existing shower head. There are no leaks or problems... and I even think the pressure seems better?! It looks great and was simple to install. Couldn't be happier... it's worth the $ to get a product that actually WORKS!
My sister and I live in an active adult community, all of the showers and tubs have flow restrictor plumbing. We got new faucets and shower heads, the new showers heads have larger heads and have removable hand-held features, but the heads and cords for the hand-held feature put them at an unusual angels & made the head lower. We got adjustable shower arms at a local Box Store. The angle was nice but the water flow was reduced even more. We ordered only one of the Danze D481170BN 13-Inch Curved Adjustable Shower Arm in the Brushed Nickel, which goes very nicely with the new shower head to try in the hall bath. My sister uses that bathroom because it has a tub and she just loves the new adjustable shower arm. She says "IT'S GREAT!" The water flow is back to what it was before & she can move it to suit her needs. We installed it ourselves. My sister likes it so much I'll be getting a second one for the shower in the master bath.
This product was a complete disappointment. It's difficult to install so that it lines up properly in the shower: You need to put a lot of plumber's tape on it then know when to stop twisting it so that it will be in the proper position and not pointing left or right. But worse, it broke after installation simply from tightening the wing nuts on it so that it wouldn't slip down under the weight of the shower head. Upon inspection of the broken part it seems that they're using plastic as the receiving end of the bolt and the bolt is glued in so it doesn't take much to find yourself holding a broken piece in one hand and water blasting all over the bathroom out the other. If it were metal this would never happen, but the company may think that the failure rate is acceptable given the savings of plastic over metal. (No other explanation for such shoddy construction that I can think of.)
This product works as advertised and is simple to install. Plumber's tape is even included. It looks nicer than I thought it would after installation.
