Sensible Solutions 3020 Storm Shield 20-Foot Garage Door Threshold Overviews

This simple product prevents water, wind-driven rain, snow, dust, dirt, and leaves from entering under your garage door, thus keeping your garage and its contents cleaner and drier. It's weatherproof and won't crack, move, or shatter, even after long exposure to extremes of heat or cold. The threshold also discourages rodents, snakes, and small pests from letting themselves in. As an added bonus, the threshold will minimize the amount of outdoor air that enters the garage, which will take a chunk out of your heating and cooling bills.--Josh Dettweiler

Sensible Solutions 3020 Storm Shield 20-Foot Garage Door Threshold Reviews

    1. I purchased this Storm Shield threshhold several months ago. I did read other reviews and followed some advice. I bought a tube of liquid nails construction adhesive to make sure I would have plenty. Once you start installing the threshold, you don't want to run short of adhesive. I also prefit the threshold on the floor and marked the outside edge with a pencil. I then placed masking tape on the outside mark. After installing the product I ran a small bead of clear silicone along the tape, where it met the threshold. After it dried I ran a razor knife along the tape and removed it. This made a nice looking job with easy cleanup. To make a long story short, installation was easy and the threshold has worked great. No more snow or water puddles under my door. I highly recommend this if your floor has any of these problems. It also helps if you have a heated garage to keep out drafts!

    2. After having a new 15' garage door installed in my workshop, I purchased a 16' Storm Shield garage door threshold kit to keep out rainwater from seeping in underneath the door. I found the rubber threshold itself to be of very good quality, but, the two tubes of cement (around 4 - 6 oz. tubes) that came with it were hard to use. That is, I found it difficult to squeeze out the beads of cement fast enough along the threshold's entire length before they began to harden - i.e. outer layer of cement skinned over. It would have been much better if the company provided a large enough tube of cement that one could apply with a caulking gun. Also, if you lay down the cement according to the tight pattern shown in the instructions, you will not have enough cement for the entire length of threshold. In spite of the fact that I spread the cement as evenly as I could and then rolled the top of the threshold to adhere it to the concrete floor, a small amount of rainwater leaked under the threshold a week later. I've since fixed this by caulking the outside edge of the threshold with GE Silicone II caulking compound. If you're going to use this product, I suggest that you discard the cement supplied with it. Then purchase a large tube of Liquid Nails and apply it quickly with a manual caulking gun. For added waterproofing you might add an additional bead of a silicone caulking compound under the outside edge of the threshold before you turn it over and position it on the floor of your garage. In preparation for this job I clean the area of the concrete floor well with detergent and clean water rinses. After the floor has dried, I'll lay down a chalk line denoting the outer edge of the threshold. Finally, I apply masking tape along this chalk line. This tells me where the threshold's outside edge should be and later allows me to trim off the hardened, excess silicone compound with a razor blade or utility knife. This excess caulking will then come away with the masking tape and leave a nice attractive edge on the outside of your new threshold.

    3. A simple product that does exactly what it is suppose to do. Easy to install. Just make sure to check the placement once the glue is down and the door is closed. This will ensure if the threshold moves you still have time to fix.No more rain water in the garage after 3 big storms. gotta love it

    4. Exactly what I was looking for, good quality product and was installed in a snap, and the price was more than good, most of the other sellers ask for almost twice as much for a similar product. It really does the job at a great cost.

    5. Like another review stated, the threshold itself is of high quality, but the cement that comes with it is very hard to squeeze out of the tubes. Suggest you purchase liquid nails or equivalent and apply with glue gun. I also feel it took way to long to receive, I ordered it on Oct 22, it shipped on Oct 31, and I finally received today. Next time I won't use the super saver shipping option.

    6. The product works, it has created a barrier below my garage door that holds back dirt and leaves. My garage door always had a problem with sealing as the lower door gasket would never seal properly and kept falling off the sides. I was hoping I could remove the gasket but the Door Sheild isn't soft enough by itself to create the seal. I put the gasket back on and it now seals almost completely. You do feel a bump as you drive your car over it but it doesn't move. I used the glue that came with it, there was plenty. I had a question about using the glue after reading other reviews so I called customer service, they were very helpful, and had some great tips on installation.I am satisfied with the product and installation was easy.

    7. I installed 16' Storm Shield Garage Door Thresholds recently, and they work extremely well. We have experienced several heavy rains and the leakage was nil. No more puddles and clean up required. The product was easy to install, and performs very well. I recommend it highly.
