This product arrived in good condition. Timely. It is everything it said it would be. However, this thing really BLOWS! I am not sure I needed this much power. It is very heavy for an over 50 female who doesn't lift weights. But the other members of my family said keep it so I'm keeping it. I will probably have to buy something smaller for my needs.

29 MARCH 2012I was excited to get this unit to immediately dry out my garage. It tends to accumulate a thin layer of water after rain showers and during high humidity. Old old home. I was also hoping to have this ready for family members and neighbors when they have issues with failed basement sump pumps, leaky roof or any issue needing quick drying. Happens every year.UPS delivered the box in its original packaging. I did not like that, but it's an oversized box. Opening the box was a bit shocking. Only a thin Styrofoam board cushions each end of this blower. I would have thought this was easily damaged in shipping. Didn't see any external damage.I plugged it in the wall outlet of my garage. I turned it on to the first speed which is suppose to output 4000 CFM. The motor barely rotated the fan blade hard enough to move a leaf 3 feet. Moved the speeds to lower settings. It slowed a little more. After three minutes, I leaned the unit back to look for another switch to see if I missed something. When leaning back, it has built in plastic pegs which allow air to move at a 45 degree angle in the air. After doing this, the the motor began to increase speed a lot higher. I let it sit for five minutes. Then I set it down to the floor level. Put my fingers along the openings. SLOW AIR MOVEMENT. This was not right. I have owned some older all metal wire, circular style, floor fans which output an enormous amount of air current. No comparison. Did I receive a defective unit? How do I measure the CFM?I am returning this unit for a replacement. I'll update the replacement and make necessary changes to the rating if applicable. With all the positive ratings, I must have a defective unit.

Well made and sturdy product. Longer cord than advertised, and very well balanced. I had to choose between renting a high velocity fan from Home Depot or buying one and the choice was clear when I realized that the ones at HD were 1/2 or less of the CFM volume. I had a flood bedroom caused by my icemaker line breaking up stairs. It took a solid 2 days of this fan running to completely dry the walls and floor, however I'm sure it would have taken longer if I rented the $10 / hr Home Depot one.

You decide, $300 for Maxxair or $2000 for Servpro. No brainer. The $2000+ can go towards french drain=Dry basement.

This blower really moves plenty of air. It seems well made as the housing is roto-molded polyethylene. It's a bit heavy though due to its large size, but what do you expect for a fan that moves this much air? The cord on it is actually 25 or 30 feet long (description says it's 10 feet long). After searching the net extensively, I came to the conclusion this blower was the best breeze for the buck. No other high output fan came close to the price of this one.The intake grilles are plastic and the output grille is wire. The squirrel cage inside is stamped steel (as are most). There are 3 speeds and the only downside to this thing is that even at its lowest speed it's sometimes too much air for what I'm doing. I use it to ventilate my shop for welding fumes among other things.Overall, an excellent buy since it's got Free Super Saver shipping (and I'm in Hawaii to boot!) Cost to ship this thing would be very high otherwise.

It's true you get what you pay for, whether it's cars, tv's or air. The Maxxair 4000 delivered maximum blowing capacity for a flooded basement. After returning home following a 2 week absence during subzero conditions, I was greeted with a broken supply line to the ice maker. The water had been leaking for days with over 3" of accumulation in our new log home's basement. We hadn't finished drywalling the basement and water was dripping off the ceiling like a rainforest. I rented 4, 1250 cfm units from the local rental agency until the 2 Maxxairs arrived 2nd day delivery from Amazon. I had the 4 rentals lined up on the wall directly below the broken line and the wall was still dripping wet after after 31 hours of blowing 82 degree air. Within 48 hours of using the Maxxairs the entire basement - walls, ceiling,&floors were completely dry with no warping! The cost of 4 rental was just a bit more than the total cost of the 2 Maxxairs. Since the purchase, my neighbors used them for quick drying paint and I've leased them twice through word of mouth for other unlucky homeowners with waterdamage.
