The vac canister and motor is sturdy and powerful. The vac hose and assessories are flimsy and brittle. The small brush assessory shattered when it was dropped 4ft onto a contrete floor.
I like everything about this vac - the size is nice and portable, the 18' cord is great, it's on wheels so its easy to pull behind you, the suction is great, BUT... the owners manual says: "To pick up dust and dry material, you need to add the reusable dry disc filter to ensure proper filtration. ... The reusable disc filter should always be in position over the foam sleeve for dry pick-up."Use of the dry disc filter also requires the Shop Vac mounting ring to hold it in place. Much to my surprise, the Shop Vac does not include the reusable disc filter and mounting ring with this vac. This also applies to the smaller size All Around EZ vac. Purchase of one filter and ring will set you back at least another $11. I think this is ridiculous! The filter and ring should be included in the box! Furthermore, the parts are difficult to find locally. The nation wide retailer where I purchased my vac sells the filters but does not sell the mounting ring at my local store.Since I have the dry filters but can't find the mounting ring locally, I'll just try using a big rubber band to hold the filter on and see how that works.
This little vacuum saved my basement during Hurricanes Irene and Lee. We had just bought the house, and did not have time to install French drains, etc., before the storm hit. During the night of Irene, water was continuously flowing into the basement from one of the basement window wells. I used the vacuum to suck it up as it flowed across the floor... all night long. The vac was a champion! (Luckily we did not lose power during the night, otherwise it would have been a disaster.) The one drawback to the vacuum is that its water-holding capacity is fairly limited. I had to empty it many, many times during that long night. I would say it will suck up maybe a gallon, maybe less, before the float switch automatically turns off the suction. If I had to do it again (please God no), I would like to have a vacuum with a larger water-holding capacity. (Although that would make it much harder to get the waste water to a suitable disposal point. The 2.5g bucket is easy to lift and carry, e.g., to empty into a toilet, so the portability factor must be considered as well.) If you will not be using this to vacuum up a flood, the small size will probably work well. It's certainly adequate for spills and things of a non-hurricane nature.
I LOVE this mini shop vac! It is perfect for around the house and to get the vehicles cleaned. Great suction, easy to transport, nice long cord, extra tools and attachments included, and not to noisy! Highly recommend this!
This shop vac was exactly what I was looking for (replacement for a similar model that finally gave up after serveral years of use). Suction power is very good and roller wheels make it easy to pull around.
This little vacuum is great. We got it for our office and it works just like it should. Now all I need is someone else to run it!
I've used this vac for a few different reasons, and gotten different experiences.1. at home, we were putting in new floors and had to vacuums the concrete base several times before laying the new floor down, and had to vacuum as we layed, to make sure there were no bumps caused by little particles left behind. This little guy did really well, getting every bit up, and even going under the moulding in some places to get small chunks of drywall the builders stuffed in the wall when they laid the carpet.2. on the couch to pick up dog hair. This went OK, but not great. It took longer than I expected, I used the attachment with the brush. I found a pet hair remover tool from petsmart that we use now instead, to save time and hassle of taking this vac out of the closet and all that.3. at my store. We take our pets to work with us, which is nice until all the hair and dust accumulates under racks and in corners and places that the broom doesn't want to reach. We sweep every day but we notice that after sweeping we're still finding dust bunnies that show up after we moved a fixture back into place. I took this little shopvac with me to the store and it did amazing. We have concrete floors so it had no problem rolling around, and the long cord was nice to have too.Overall, the product is great for the price. I just wish that storing it would be easier, as it doesn't have a place for the cord or hose to roll up and secure, or for all the attachments, which are just in a plastic bag hanging in the closet I keep the vac. It's nice because it's small, so it will fit in the hall closet, but it's kind of shoved in there because the hose and cord just have to fall around it.
